How to zip/Unzip a File or Folder in Ubuntu

In this article, I will share with you how to zip a File or Folder in Ubuntu using command line.

Zip a File or Folder in Ubuntu:

First you have to install zip in Ubuntu using the following command,

sudo apt-get install zip

After installing the above command, you can create zip file using the following command,

zip -r filename.zip folder_name

Unzip a File or Folder in Ubuntu:

First you have to install unzip in Ubuntu using the following command,

sudo apt-get install unzip

After installing the above command, extract to a particular destination folder using the following command,

unzip filename.zip -d destination_folder
